Assumpta Planas

She started classical dance at the age of 10 and, since then, she has not stopped trying different styles of dance: contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, afro, tap, etc. Finally, she delves into jazz dance, old school hiphop (locking, popping) and tap, and trains with renowned international figures from these disciplines in Barcelona, NYC and Tokyo.

Graduated from Luthier’s Advanced Professional Jazz and Tap Programs, she teaches tap, locking and popping classes at school, and jazz and tap dance at other schools in Barcelona.

She has participated as a performer and dancer in various productions by jazz dance choreographer Víctor J. Rodrigo (Companyia de Dansa Jazz Luthier, Cia VND), tap dancers Guillem Alonso (BRT’10 anys) and Maria Bossy (Nit de Musicals) and the body percussion dancer Txus Eguílaz (Krebs Cycle). She improvises tap dancing on a regular basis at Barcelona Tap Jams.

As a creator, she founded and performed in the eclectic dance, theater and social criticism company “Scenika” and has been the choreographer of the musical “Molls i bemolls” by the company “El Somni de Copèrnic” and the play “While the witches don’t they arrive” by the playwright Jarbas Cardona.

She uses singing, drums and the piano as complementary artistic elements, in which she continues to develop.
