Txus Eguílaz

Txus teaches regularly at the Luthier Professional Tap Program at Escola Luthier Dansa.

Txus Eguílaz is a multidisciplinary artist: percussionist, dancer, actor and educator. He was born in Tudela and completed higher studies in Percussion and Percussion Pedagogy at the Conservatory of Music of Navarra, where he obtained numerous honors and the award for best academic record. In Barcelona he trained as a tap dancer, Irish dance and Lindy Hop; He also studied acting (he is a text and mime actor) and specialized in body percussion and cotidiophones (everyday objects used as instruments).
As a percussionist, he has performed in numerous recitals and recordings, both solo and with other artists and musical groups, as well as taking part in numerous didactic concerts. As a dancer, Txus Eguílaz is part of the Irish dance companies Celtic Caos and Nuala. He also participated in the creation and representation of the show Hop!, by the Trakatap tap and percussion company. In addition, he created and directed various choreographies for the shows VaDeLeds, by VaDeTu, and Sincopados y Txala Tap!, by Aura Teatro. Apart from his participation in concerts, as a teacher he has more than 20 years of experience in teaching rhythm. He teaches specialized workshops and regular classes in various theater and dance schools and in conservatories.
Txus Eguílaz performs with the brass band Artistas del Gremio, a large part of the 2022 tour; premieres his family show Peke-Toko-Pás at the NAK Festival 2022, commissioned by the contemporary music festival itself; he performs solo with his workshop-show ¡HumoRítmico! and with his show Got Rhythm; co-stars in Olivia & Olivier, a show for the actor-musician duo Majolie D.O.; and is part of the cast of Tap That Beat!, by the tap and percussion company ExhiBeat! He also performs with the Fly Fish Five marching band, with the fusion music group New Contours and participates in the show for percussion and band Con R de Ritmo, commissioned by the band La Pamplonesa. In addition, he participates as a freelance in numerous musical, choreographic and multidisciplinary artistic projects and is part of the faculty of the Professional Training Program for Tap Dancers of the Escola Luthier de Barcelona.
