Matteo Nicolai

Matteo Nicolai is graduated in Luthier’s Professional Training Program for tap dancers.

Born in Lucca (Italy) in 1994, he started dancing in Ballet and Jazz lessons at the age of 14, later started Hip Hop, and at the age of 18 discovered Tap Dance. In 2015 he moved to Barcelona to study at the Professional Tap Dance Program of Escola Luthier, directed by Guillem Alonso, the center in which he is currently  teaching. In 2018 he received a scholarship to attend the Tap Dance Freedom formation in New York, directed by Andrew Nemr. He is a member of WOODBEATS, directed by Anna Llombart with whom he has performed in theaters such as the Teatre Apolo of Barcelona. He is also part of different companies such as BARCELONA RHYTHM TAP by Guillem Alonso, the swing dance company JUST A MOOD directed by Aurelien Darbellay and Maria Ferrer, and LA BANDA STREET GROOVE directed by Clara Martinez. He has taught both Tap Dance and Body Percussion, internationally, in countries such as Spain and Italy.
